Carbonara is usually for pasta, but this time we will make Japanese rice ball (onigiri) in that flavor. The bacon pieces accentuates the texture and it is satisfying. With cheese it adds a rich flavor and makes it delicious.

  • Rice
    200 g
  • Bacon block
    80 g
  • Beaten eggs
    1
  • Boiled egg
    1
  • (A)Powdered cheese
    2 tbsp
  • (A)Black pepper
    1/2 tsp
  • Parsley
    as needed

How to make

  1. 1. Cut the boiled egg in half virtically.
  2. 2. Cut block bacon into 0.4-inch cubes.
  3. 3. Add the bacon from Step 2 to the heated pan over medium heat, stir-fry until it turns brown, then remove from the heat.
  4. 4. In the same pan, add beaten eggs over medium heat, stir-fry until it becomes coarse and crumbly, then remove from heat.
  5. 5. Put the rice and ingredient (A) in a bowl, mix it so that the flavor blends in, add Step 3 and Step 4, lightly mix it, and divide it into 2 equal parts.
  6. 6. Place half of Step 1 and Step 5 on a plastic wrap and shape it into a triangle. Make another following the same step.
  7. 7. Remove the plastic wrap, serve on a plate, sprinkle some parsley and it's done!

Tips for cooking

By mixing it lightly in Step 5, the egg won't fall apart and it will look nice. You can use not only block bacon but also Vienna sausage and it will taste as good. For senior citizens, children under the age of 2, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems, please avoid eating raw eggs.
