Light and Mild! Okonomiyaki with Tofu - Recipe Video

A simple and easy to understand recipe video shows how to make Light and Mild! Okonomiyaki with Tofu.
This recipe is arranged by adding tofu to okonomiyaki. Okonomiyaki is a Japanese pan-fried dish, usually with cabbage, meat, and other vegetables. By mixing pat-dried firm tofu into the dough, the texture becomes soft and fluffy. Pork belly is also used, so it's quite filling. Please try it out and hope you like it.

  • Firm tofu
    50 g
  • Cake flour (Pastry flour)
    60 g
  • Eggs
    1
  • Water
    100 ml
  • Japanese style granulated soup stock
    1 tsp
  • Cabbage
    1/4
  • Pork belly
    100 g
  • Salad oil
    1 tbsp
  • トッピング
  • Okonomiyaki sauce
    1 tbsp
  • Japanese Mayonnaise
    2 tbsp
  • bonito flakes
    as needed
  • Dried green seaweed flakes (Aonori)
    as needed

How to make

  1. Prepare. Wrap the firm tofu in a paper towel and leave to dry it for about 30 minutes.
  2. 1. Roughly chop cabbage. Cut pork belly into 4-inch pieces.
  3. 2. In a bowl, mix well the dough ingredients, add cabbage from Step 1, and mix well.
  4. 3. Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat, add half of the mixture of Step 2 and cook. When browned, put half of the pork belly from Step 1 on top, and flip over. cook until cooked thoroughly, then remove from heat. Cook another piece in the same way.
  5. 4. Arrange it on a plate, add toppings, and it's ready to serve.

Tips for cooking

If the dough is soft, add pastry flour little by little and please adjust to thicken.
