Marinated and Frozen Chicken Breast Chashu - Recipe Video

A simple and easy to understand recipe video shows how to make Marinated and Frozen Chicken Breast Chashu.
This is an introduction to chicken breast char siu (chashu), which is simply heated in a microwave after thawing. By marinating, the flavor is soaked in and chicken breast, which tends to be dry, becomes moist. There are only a few ingredients and it is very easy, so please try it out and we hope you like it.

  • Chicken breast
    300 g
  • Marinade
  • Soy sauce
    3 tbsp
  • Cooking sake
    2 tbsp
  • Sugar
    1 tbsp
  • Japanese sweet cooking wine (Mirin)
    1 tbsp
  • Vinegar
    1 tbsp
  • Oyster sauce
    1 tbsp

How to make

  1. Prepare. Remove chicken breast skin.
  2. 1. Poke the entire chicken breast with a fork and cut the thick part of the meat open to make it evenly thick.
  3. 2. Add Step 1 and the marinade ingredients into a freezing zipper storage bag and rub well, make the thickness even, remove air, seal, and freeze.
  4. 3. When cooking, leave it in a refrigerator for about 8 hours, or use the defrost function of the microwave to thaw.
  5. 4. Place Step 3 in a large heat-resistant bowl with the marinade, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave for 4 minutes at 600W.
  6. 5. Remove the plastic wrap and flip the chicken breast over. Cover with plastic wrap again and microwave for another 3 minutes at 600W until chicken breast is cooked through.
  7. 6. Add Step 5 marinade to a pan, reduce over medium heat until thickened, and remove from heat.
  8. 7. Cut Step 5 into bite-sized pieces and arrange on a plate. Drizzle over Step 6, and it's ready to serve.

Tips for cooking

Heating conditions may vary depending on the type of microwave, the type of heat-resistant container, and the condition of the ingredients. Please check the condition and adjust the heating time as necessary. Please adjust the amount of soy sauce to your liking.
