  • Green shiso leaves
    5 sheets
  • Spicy pollack roe
    40 g
  • Hanpen fish cake
    1 sheets
  • (A)Starch
    2 tsp
  • (A)Sake
    2 tsp
  • (A)Japanese Mayonnaise
    1 tbsp
  • Salted butter
    10 g
  • 飾り
  • Green shiso leaves
    2 sheets
  • Lemon
    1/8

How to make

  1. Prepare. Cut off the stems of the green shiso leaves.
  2. 1. Slice the green shiso leaves into thin strips. Remove the skin of spicy pollack/cod roe (mentaiko) with a spoon.
  3. 2. In a bowl, tear and add Step 1, (A), and hanpen fish cake, mash and mix with your hands, once it gets smooth, make a 4 equal round shapes.
  4. 3. Heat salted butter in a pan over medium heat. When the batter starts melting, arrange the Step 2. Cook until golden brown on both sides and until cooked through, then remove from heat.
  5. 4. Arrange Step 3 on a plate, splash lemon, and it's ready to serve.

Tips for cooking

You can also use salted pollack/cod roe (tarako) to substitute mentaiko. *You must be of legal drinking age
