A simple and easy to understand recipe video shows how to make Easy Pork Belly Chashu.
This is an introduction to char siu (chashu) made with pork belly block that everyone loves. Microwave it! It's easy and handy to cook. You can put it on rice and make a rice bowl (donburi), or you can remake it into luxurious fried rice. This is a versatile dish, so please give it a try!

  • Pork belly block
    250 g
  • Green part of Japanese leek
    1
  • Ginger
    20 g
  • (A)Grated garlic
    2 tsp
  • (A)Soy sauce
    2 tbsp
  • (A)Sake
    3 tbsp
  • (A)Honey
    2 tsp
  • Young green onion (Konegi)
    as needed

How to make

  1. 1. Cut the green part of Japanese leek into 3 equal pieces. Shred ginger with the skin on.
  2. 2. Add Step 1 and ingredient (A) to a heat-resistant bowl and mix.
  3. 3. Add pork belly block, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave for about 7 minutes on each side at 600W until heated through.
  4. 4. Cut into bite-sized pieces, place on a plate, top with young green onion (konegi), and it's ready to serve.

Tips for cooking

Heating conditions may vary depending on the type of microwave, the type of heat-resistant container, and the condition of the ingredients. Please check the condition and adjust the heating time as necessary. This recipe uses honey. Please be careful not to let children below the age of 1 (infants) consume them. You can substitute honey with sugar, but since the sweetness varies depending on the type, we recommend adjusting the taste to your liking."
