  • Pork loin

  • Fish cake (Chikuwa)

  • Sliced cheese
    5 sheets
  • Green shiso leaves
    10 sheets
  • Cake flour (Pastry flour)
    10 g
  • (A)Noodle soup base (Mentsuyu)
    3 tbsp
  • (A)Japanese sweet cooking wine (Mirin)
    2 tbsp
  • (A)Grated garlic
    1 tsp
  • Sesame oil
    1 tbsp

  • Green shiso leaves

How to make

  1. Prepare. Cut off the stems of green shiso leaves.
  2. 1. Cut sliced cheese lengthwise into 6 equal pieces.
  3. 2. Make a slit lengthwise on fish cake (chikuwa) and insert Step 1 in between.
  4. 3. Spread 3 slices of pork loin, 0.8-inch apart, and place green shiso leaves on top.
  5. 4. Place Step 2 on top of it and roll, then sift the cake flour (pastry flour) through a tea strainer.
  6. 5. Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium heat, place the end of Step 4 face down, and grill.
  7. 6. When the pork loin is browned and cooked through, add (A), heat over medium heat, and mix well. When the flavors are well blended entirely, remove from the heat.
  8. 7. Spread green shiso leaves on a plate, arrange Step 6, and it's ready to serve.

Tips for cooking

You can make pork loin with your favorite parts, but please use thinly sliced pork.
