We made stir-fried salt noodles (shio-yakisoba) with lettuce and shrimp. The lettuce is added at the end and stir-fried lightly to leave it crispy. If you like spiciness, add extra black pepper, and it will have a punchy taste and it will be delicious. Give it a try!

Ingredients

  • Stir fry noodles (Yakisoba)
    1 head(s)
  • Lettuce
    100 g
  • Shrimp
    50 g
  • Grated garlic
    1/2 tsp
  • Sake
    1 tbsp
  • Chicken soup stock (powder, cube, liquid)
    1 tsp
  • Sesame oil
    1 tsp
  • Salt
    a pinch
  • Black pepper
    a pinch

How to make

  1. Prepare. Thaw the shrimps, remove the back vein of the shrimps, rinse them, and remove any excess water.
  2. 1. Tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces with your hands.
  3. 2. Add sesame oil and grated garlic to a pan and cook it over medium heat until it's fragrant.
  4. 3. Add the shrimp to Step 2 and cook until the color changes.
  5. 4. Add the Japanese stir-fried noodles (yakisoba), cooking sake, and a granulated chicken soup stock base and cook them until the noodles are loosened.
  6. 5. Add Step 1 to Step 4, stir-fry them quickly, and season them with salt and black pepper.
  7. 6. Transfer to a plate and it's ready to serve.

Tips for cooking

Please adjust the amount of salt to your liking. We used lettuce this time, but you can substitute vegetables of your choice such as a bok choy or a Japanese mustard spinach.
