  • Japanese squash
    200 g
  • Tempura flour
    3 tbsp
  • Cold water
    3 tbsp
  • Black roasted sesame seeds
    1/2 tbsp
  • Salt
    1/4 tsp
  • Frying oil
    as needed

How to make

  1. Prepare. Remove seeds and guts from the pumpkin.
  2. 1. Cut the pumpkin into 3 equal pieces with the skin on, then cut into 0.2-inch pieces.
  3. 2. Mix the ingredients for the batter in a bowl and coat Step 1 with the batter.
  4. 3. Heat about 1-inch of frying oil in a pot to 170°C (338°F). Add Step 2, remove once it gets crispy, and drain the oil.
  5. 4. Arrange on a plate, and it's ready to serve.
