Ingredients
5 onigiri

  • Rice
    550 g
  • みそだれ
  • Miso
    1 tbsp
  • Japanese sweet cooking wine (Mirin)
    2 tsp
  • Sugar
    1 tsp
  • Salted butter
    10 g
  • 飾り用
  • Green shiso leaves
    5 sheets
  • Japanese picked plum (Umeboshi)

How to make

  1. Prepare. Cut off the stems of green shiso leaves.
  2. 1. Divide the rice into 5 equal parts, place it on a plastic wrap and wrap, then use hands to press and form a triangle shape.
  3. 2. Add ingredients of miso-based sauce (miso dare) into a bowl and mix well, brush half portion of Step 1 on one side of the rice.
  4. 3. Add salted butter into a skillet heated to medium heat, face down the side with miso dare and line them in a row, brush the rest of Step 2.
  5. 4. In the same medium-heat, bake for 4 minutes until both sides have browned, then remove from the heat.
  6. 5. Place green shiso leaves and Japanese pickled plums (umeboshi) on the side, and it's ready to serve.

Tips for cooking

This time we used a skillet with a diameter of 6 inches and a height of 2 inches. Please turn onigiri over several times and be careful not to burn them. You can also eat it deliciously by spreading soy sauce and baking it. The skillet is very hot, so please be careful.
