Polka-Dot Chirashi-Zushi - Recipe Video

A simple and easy to understand recipe video shows how to make Polka-Dot Chirashi-Zushi.
This is a cute polka dot chirashi-zushi. It has a colorful look with the use of cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, and eggs. Putting salmon roe (ikura) on top at the end will make it look more vivid in color. You should definitely give it a try, especially on special days!

  • (A)Japanese versatile dashi base (Shiro-dashi)

How to make

  1. Prepare. Take off the calyx for the cherry tomatoes.
  2. 1. Cut the cherry tomatoes into 5 mm wide round slices. Cut radishes into thin round slices. Remove the stem from the cucumber and cut into thin round slices.
  3. 2. Next we will make sushi rice. Mix ingredient (A) in a bowl.
  4. 3. Put the rice in a separate bowl, add the mixture made in Step 2, mix in a cutting motion, and let it cool.
  5. 4. I will make thin omelet. Crack the egg into a bowl, add (A) and mix.
  6. 5. Place cooking oil into the Japanese tamagoyaki omelet pan, heat it over medium heat and pour in the egg mixture from Step 4.
  7. 6. When the surface becomes dry, turn it over, heat it over medium heat for about 30 seconds, and cut it out with a round cookie cutter.
  8. 7. Put the suchi rice from Step 3 on a plate, sprinkle the circle shaped toppings made in Step 1 & 6 plus some salmon roe (ikura) and it's done!

Tips for cooking

You can adjust the amount of salt to your liking for the sushi rice. The sushi rice is already seasoned, but you can add more such as soy sauce to your liking.
