This is a grilled Japanese rice ball (onigiri) with pickled mustard greens with cheese. It has a good aroma because it is baked using sesame oil and goes perfectly with pickled mustard greens. If you eat it while it is warm, it will be delicious as the cheese inside will be melting. Please try it for breakfast.

Ingredients
4 onigiri

  • Rice
    360 g
  • Pickled mustard greens
    30 g
  • Sliced cheese
    2 sheets
  • Soy sauce
    1 tsp
  • Sesame oil
    1 tsp

How to make

  1. 1. Chop pickled mustard greens roughly.
  2. 2. Cut sliced cheese into 0.4-inch cube.
  3. 3. Add rice, Step 1 and soy sauce, and mix well.
  4. 4. Spread 1/4 amount of Step 3 on a plastic wrap, place 1/4 amount of Step 2 in the middle, and cover with the rice. Press and form a triangle shape. Make 4 onigiris with the same step.
  5. 5. Add sesame oil in a pan heated to medium heat. Remove the plastic wrap in Step 4 and place it on a pan. Bake until both side is browned, and remove from the heat.
  6. 6. Place it on a plate, and it's ready to serve.

Tips for cooking

Please adjust the amount of salt to your taste. We used sliced cheese this time, but you can substitute with processed cheese.
