Ketchup Yakisoba - Recipe Video

A simple and easy to understand recipe video shows how to make Ketchup Yakisoba.
Here's a recipe for a ketchup flavored Japanese stir-fried noodles (yakisoba). The umami taste of pork belly, the sweet taste of cabbage, and the sour taste of ketchup goes well together, and it's hard to stop eating it! Since its flavor is ketchup instead of regular sauce, it has a new taste to it, so you should give it a try!

Cook time

15 minutes

Ingredients
1 serving

  • Stir fry noodles (Yakisoba)
    1 head(s)
  • Cabbage
    150 g
  • Pork belly
    100 g
  • Ketchup
    3 tbsp
  • Salad oil
    1/2 tbsp
  • Dried green seaweed flakes (Aonori)
    as needed

How to make

  1. 1. Cut cabbage into strips.
  2. 2. Cut pork belly into 1-inch wide pieces.
  3. 3. Heat cooking oil in pan over medium heat. Add the pork belly from Step 2 and stir-fry. When the pork belly is cooked through, add the cabbage from Step 1 and stir-fry. Cover with a lid and steam cook for about 2 minutes.
  4. 4. When the cabbage is cooked through, add the yakisoba noodles and stir-fry. Add ketchup and stir-fry over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat when everything is mixed together.
  5. 5. Serve on a plate, sprinkle some dried green seaweed flakes (aonori) and it is ready!

Tips for cooking

You can substitute thinly sliced pork for pork belly. If you burn off the liquid when stir-frying after adding ketchup, the acidity will also burn off and it'll come out delicious.
